ACEC Florida Region 3 | FDOT District 5 Leadership "State of the District" Industry Forum Tuesday, March 11th 2025 | 9:00am - 12:00pm Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center ACEC Florida Region 3 and FDOT District 5 will be hosting a “State of the District” Industry Forum on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Sanborn Center in DeLand. Registration Check-In and Networking will begin at 8:30am. This will be an in-person event only and will include a State of the District address from District 5 Secretary John Tyler, PE, Jack Adkins, PE, and Mike Heffinger, PE as well as updates from Production and Operations leaders. In addition, functional breakout groups with facilitated discussion will allow employees to take a deeper dive into important issues, possible solutions and continue to strengthen our relationships as partners in the transportation industry. Please limit attendance to two attendees per firm. PLAN TO PARTICIPATE IN FUNCTIONAL AREA BREAKOUT GROUPS! A portion of this program will consist of Production and Operations breakout groups. Authentic discussions aimed at the most pertinent topics faced by our Industry will be facilitated by District leaders and ACEC-FL Liaison Committee members. Come prepared to engage in these feedback discussions. Sample questions to seed discussions are provided below:Production* In PD&E, what are some best practices or suggestions for both sides that will create improved quality documents and efficiencies?* What pressures does the Industry face that may contribute to the challenge to provide accurate pay items and quantities?* How can CCD be more effective for those engaged in transportation development (i.e. planning and engineering)?* What changes to current processes and procedures would encourage longer firm tenure for emerging leaders and project managers?Operations* What are some of your biggest concerns going from limiting amount hourly rate contracts to lump sum contracts for CEI?* From a safety perspective, where do we think the biggest opportunities are to utilize technology to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes?* What training is needed for both the District and the Industry to support career development and retention?* What changes to current processes and procedures would encourage longer firm tenure for inspectors, project administrators and senior project engineers?
